Faces of CulturalFest: Let's meet Los Rebeldes de la Cueca

“Los Rebeldes de la Cueca” has been present in Seattle since 2017. Over our eight years of existence, we have showcased folklore from different regions of Chile, performing at schools, universities, and community centers. Our most notable performances include Seattle Folklife, FIUTS CulturalFest, and Seattle Fiestas Patrias at Seattle Center.

Currently, we are presenting our showcase titled "Viva Chile!" This performance highlights the traditional dances from Chile’s central region, performed every September in celebration of Chile’s Independence Day

Our costumes represent the Huaso and China—the traditional rural men and women who work the land with the help of animals, such as horses.

We will be performing Cueca, Chile’s national dance. The Cueca represents the Huaso courting his China, trying to win her affection by showcasing his dance moves and colorful attire.

In addition to the Cueca, we will also perform La Mazamorra, La Cordillerana, and El Chapecao

Our dancers for this special celebration are:

Andrea Montaña.

Carola Viveros.

Nelson Ruiz.

Karo Vielma.

Tania Zarate.

Paulina San Martín.

David Pérez.

Andrea Figueroa.

Kattia Rojas-Barrante.

Pedro Cerda.

Alycia Ruiz.

Carlos Quilodrán.

This is a unique invitation to experience the most traditional folkloric dances of Chile—the southernmost country in the world!
